Visiting Santorini by Cruise Ship? Here's What You Need to Know

1. Arrival & Disembarkation

Cruise ships anchor off the coast of Fira, and passengers are tendered ashore by small boats to the Old Port (Skala). From there, you have three options to reach the top of the caldera:

  • Cable Car: The fastest and most comfortable way up (approx. 3 minutes).

  • Donkey Ride: A traditional but controversial option due to animal welfare concerns.

  • Walking: A scenic but steep climb (around 600 steps).

Tip: Choose the cable car for speed and convenience — lines can be long, so plan ahead.

  •

2. Time is Limited — Book in Advance

Cruise passengers usually have 4–6 hours on the island. Pre-booking your private tour or transfer ensures you skip the lines and maximize your time.

We offer:

  • Private Transfers from the cable car station to Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, or the port.

  • Tailor-Made Tours of Oia, Fira, the black sand beaches, wineries, and photo spots.

  • Return on time: All our tours are designed to get you back to the port with plenty of time to spare before your ship departs.

3. Avoid the Crowds

Early bookings allow for early departure, beating the rush and enjoying a more peaceful Santorini experience.

4. What to Bring

  • Comfortable shoes for walking on cobblestones

  • Hat, sunscreen, and water (especially in summer)
